Max was born in to parents Cameron and Bridget. He grew up quite wealthy; his ancestors were the founders, owners and publishers of the San Francisco Chronicle. He grew up in the rural town of Occidental California, and studied at the Sonoma Country Day School for junior high, and moved up to El Molino High School. Max didn’t really plan on becoming an actor, all of it just fell into place. His aunt sent his modeling pictures to clothing brand GAP, and from there he was told by the agents who handled his photos that he should try out acting. He then took an improvisation class with Don Gibble, who became his talent manager.

Max’s Hollywood career started in 2004 with the movie “Catch That Kid!” where he acted alongside Kristen Stewart. He went on to act in various supporting roles in movies like “The Pacifier”, “Nancy Drew”, “Jumper”, “The House at the End of the Street”, “Point Break”, in total over 15 TV and film titles. Max’s breakthrough role came in 2013 with the popular horror TV series “Bates Motel”. His net worth became well established because of this project, which aired for a total of five seasons.

Although “Bates Motel” was his most popular project, he has also taken the director’s seat for “The Bates Motel”. Currently, Max is hard at work filming an untitled Navy Seals Project by CBS, where he will co-star alongside David Boreanaz and Jessica Paré.
